Went to see The Lettermen on Nov. 13, 2003 in Avon Park, Florida at the South Florida Community College.
Excellent as always. Darren is on temporary leave now needing some rest and was replaced admirably by Michael Jackson who has sung for 5 years with the New York Opera and 20 years with The Pied Pipers. He has the most operatic voice the Lettermen have ever had. His solo was the fantastic Bring Him Home. And he also is a very nice man.
Their show included all of the classics, as well as: All I Ask Of You, Unchained Melody, and the great medley of Precious and Few / Cherish. Donovan sang two solos that he himself wrote: A Boy's Little Prayer and Daddy's Girl. I think that Daddy's Girl has the most beautiful lyrics that he has ever written. A CD single of the two songs was for sale at the concert. Tony's Maria, from West Side Story, as always, brought down the house.
After the show, Tony, myself, Lettermen friends Bev & Cliff Erickson, the 3 Band members, Michael Jackson and Road Manager great Doranne Kelly went to their Hotel Lounge and stayed until 3:30 am. Had lots of fun and laughs. The group's new Christmas CD will be out in just a few weeks.
